  Discussion with family member who is an Elder in our congregation

  so about a week ago, i showed my cousin & her husband [an elder in our congregation] the picture on pg 29 of our 4/15/2013 study wt and asked, "if jesus is head of the congregation then where is he?".

  after several minutes of searching, dead silence.. i then asked if they had heard the part on the 2012 summer district conv the part about "our spiritual mother, where the c.o said that "the bible by itself does not shine thru as life-giving truths just by itself.

  " they were shocked and said that i must have misheard it because that would be apostasy.

  he (elder) can tell himself anything he likes to sleep well, but he KNOWS what he said about 'apostasy'...

  Neanderthal and Adam and Eve

  was actually looking into this and so did a search to see what was already talked about, found the below quote on another thread after finding it on the cd for myself...stunning to me as i still thought of neanderthal man as a hairy monkey man or a complete fabrication, and here is what appears to be a twist from the wt that i never realized all my years in.. what i found most interesting was the bolded section (by me).

  What I found most interesting was the bolded section (by me)

  23 But what of those so-called “prehistoric” men one frequently hears about? Some of such fossil remains are not human at all, but are animal. Others are simply varieties of the human family who were living at the same time “modern-type” man was, just as today there are many sizes and shapes in different living peoples. The Neanderthal man was at one time regarded as “prehistoric,” an ancestor of modern man in the evolution scale, but note what an encyclopedia now says: “Neanderthal man cannot be regarded as an ancestor of modern man. Neanderthal man and men of the modern type . . . must be looked upon as descendants of a common ancestor.”

  This in context was the WT trying to demonstate how wrong evoltution is compared to creation, but perhaps they shot the whole Adam and Eve thing in the foot...

  Now, to my way of thinking, what the WT said without saying back then (and nothing seems to have updated it) is that Adam and Eve must have had, aside from Cain and Able and unnamed daughters, also given birth to Neanderthals.

  The Bible and JWs would not hold that there was an unknown Homo Sapien pair walking around giving birth to 'modern man' and 'neanderthal man', that then neantherthal died out leaving modern man, ie; Adam and Eve.

  So the biblical and JW explanation must mean that Adam and Eve gave birth to Neanderthal man as well as the recorded children of Genesis. Both just enough the same (homo Sapien) but geneticaly also different enough for one to live on and the other not...

  So Genesis just got buried under a mountain of shit...either Adam and Eve were not the first Homo Sapiens or if they were, they bore Neanderthal man.

  In an effort to prove 'modern science' wrong didn't they instead prove genesis to be wrong?

  i disassociated myself about 8 years ago.

  went through a divorce and shunning from most my family.

  So sorry you are in that situation. I too had a countdown going...conversations with my kids at 14 and 16 had me in the same boat. Fortunatley for me and them, they did not get baptized and have both abandoned the JWs.

  what really boiled my blood was learning that the elders had told him that he had to curtail his time with me...even though the law said he had to see me.

  I told my son when it looked like was going to commit to them something like this: "that that will be your mistake to make and trust me, you will live long enough to regret it. The fact that you won't let me explain why they are wrong is going to be your problem, not mine."

  I didn't expect to be here at age 49. Here as in my employment

  it's been a terrible economy these last few years.

  i had a very successful loan brokerage and watched that crash and burn in 2011. i went back to my previous firm in the computer industry that was struggling after i left.

  it seemed like a good match.

  put a sign out the front, in the local rag, start an internet biz setting up blogs for people...you may (or may not be) surprised at how many people just want a snazzy blogspot without paying thousands for a website

  I finally told my parents

  so as some of you already may know, i have stopped going to meetings for good and have nothing to do with wbts anymore...did not write a letter of disassociation because i dont believe an organization should spiritually execute me for rejecting men's tradition and false doctrine...some of you may recall i spoke to my wife and are in good terms, even though she's still an active jw.

  my parents are both active jw's...when i visited them yesterday, they clearly did not expect me to tell them i had left the "org"...to my huge surprise, after i explained to them i had found ttatt (truth about the truth) and gave compelling evidence of my reasoning, and using the scriptures, they totally sided with me...i was dumbfounded...one of my parents even brought up ray franz and his book coc....i was like wtf??.

  they told me all of these years they never had the guts to say anything about the hypocrisy in this org and they were glad that i as their son was able to step up and believe what is right and what is on the bible...they re-assured their love to me and they were happy i had found happiness in jesus christ and the need to have a personal relationship with him and not through a man made organization.... i totally did not expect this response from my parents...but it just leaves me to think that there are thousands of active jw's out there feeling the same way and don't have the courage to step up to the org...still don't know what they are going to do, but i got the feeling they will do the same eventually and move on from the wbts.... have a great week everyone.

  Power Struggle At Head Quarters Reason For Governing Body New Light?

  well could it be that we overlooked this little idea in our reasonings on why the governing body is comming up with new light they love the idea of?

  about the f&ds?.

  you know to keep any type of rebellion at bay before it starts.. have you ever woundered what many that are closely associated with the governing body are feeling about these new guys called the governing body right now with all this new light loved by the governing body,,i smell trouble a brewing for these guys right there at headquarters i'm sure thier dealing with everbody they meet they reflect this same attitude so they got to be making enemies..

  the only power struggle at HQ is how to hang on to it.

  And that they do be rolling out new light as it suits. The remnant have never had any power and that is the way the GB want to keep it, the pesky fact of rising instead of falling numbers could have lead to some annointed (esp younger ones) wanting a say. The new light firmly places them as largely insignificant now, the numbers rising is no longer of consequence

  'power struggle' over before it starts.

  Shameful really that instead of addressing the Elders concerns or accusations to HIM they go behind his back, alert the whole body that they have a potential apostate in their ranks and look for more 'dirt' than they already have.

  The Internet has been a lifesaver for victims of Cults of all sorts .Is it then the beginning of the end for Cults ?

  since the internet has been available to people all over the earth, their has been an explosion of information going out that is unprecedented in the history of the world .. and one , just one of the beneficiaries of this knowedge are victims of cults who can relate to people who have undergone similar experiences and can offer help and encouragement to other victims .and this is done on a global scale .with what we are witnessing on this site with newbies joining on an almost daily basis , i live in hope that the writing is indeed on the wall for cults of all sorts.

  Cell Phones Distracting from the LIfe-saving message

  i dont' use my cell phone when with friends, to show them how important they are to me, and i am focusing on them, etc.

  i turn it off completely.. i'm doing a free bible study with 2 really nice jw ladies.

  but today, one of their phones went off loudly twice, and she had to check each time who it was etc.

  what the males that run these cultures seem to not realize is that they make it plainly obvious to the world that they are monsters who simply have no self control. Essentially they tell the world, "seeing that we as men just cannot help ourselves you must cover up in a bed sheet otherwise we cannot be held responsable for behaving like the animals we are"
